Debenjak Riko (1908 – 1987)
Debenjak was born in 1908 in Kanal, Slovenia.
In 1937, he graduated from the Art school in Belgrade, and then also completed an academic painting course in the same city. Later, he studied the works of the great masters in Paris for several years.
He received many awards for his work (including the Levstik award in 1948, the Prešeren award in 1960, the Jakopič award in 1974 and the Silver plaque of the Union of Fine Artists of Yugoslavia).
The artist exhibited at many solo and group exhibitions.
He passed away in 1987 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
