Andrej Jemec (1934)
Born in 1934 in Vižmarje near Ljubljana.
He studied painting with professors Marij Pregelj and Gabrijel Stupica, and graphic technique with Božidar Jakac and Riko Debenjak. He worked as a primary school teacher and later taught drawing and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. His artistic work ranges from painting, printmaking and drawing to tapestries, sculptures and graphic design.
He has received several awards at home and abroad, including the Prešeren Fund Prize, the Tokyo Graphic Biennale Prize, the Jakopič Prize, and the Prešeren Prize for Lifetime Achievement. He is a recipient of the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, First Order.
