Jože Slak – Đoka (1951-2014)

Slak was born in 1951 in Jablan, Slovenia.

At first, he enrolled to study chemistry, which he did not like, so he later enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. He graduated in 1975, under the mentorship of Gabriel Stupica. He completed his postgraduate studies in Japan.

He received several awards for his work (including the Zlata ptica award in 1981, the Župančič award in 1993 and the Prešeren Fund award in 2007).

The artist exhibited at solo exhibitions in Slovenia.

Slak passed away in 2014 in Jordankal, Slovenia.
