Jakov Brdar (1949)
Brdar was born in 1949 in Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 1969, he graduated from the High school of Art in Niš. In 1975, he then graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana under the mentorship of prof. Dušan Trčar, where he later also completed his postgraduate studies.
The artist has received many international awards and recognitions for his work (including the first award at the Biennal of Yugoslav sculpture in 1987, the Prešeren Fund award in 1998 and the award of capital city of Ljubljana in 2010).
He exhibits at many solo and group exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad, and also participates in many sculpture symposia.
His sculptures and monuments can be seen in many cities in Slovenia and abroad.
Brdar lives and creates in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
